Terms of Service
Terms for using Gesture Synth, a free browser instrument that turns two-hand gestures into music, with camera, audio, and recordings kept under your control.
Acceptance
By using Gesture Synth, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the instrument.
Service
Gesture Synth is a free browser-based musical instrument. It does not require an account, subscription, or payment. Features may change or become temporarily unavailable as browsers and device capabilities evolve.
Camera, Recording, and Audio
You choose whether to grant camera and microphone access. The browser requests camera access when the Gesture Synth homepage opens. If you allow it, a live preview appears while local hand tracking loads. Browser autoplay rules require one click or touch before generated synth audio starts. The microphone is requested only when you start an MP4 recording and is mixed locally with that generated audio. Gesture Synth captures only its own performance canvas, so it does not request screen-sharing access.
Recordings
The recording control combines the live synth canvas with microphone and generated synth audio for up to five minutes. It does not capture page controls, other browser tabs, application windows, or your desktop. Supported browsers create an MP4 download locally. You are responsible for the sounds captured by your microphone, for storing, playing, publishing, or deleting downloaded recordings, and for ensuring that your recording and use comply with applicable law and third-party rights.
Acceptable Use
You may not use Gesture Synth to interfere with the service, bypass browser security controls, distribute malicious code, violate applicable law, or infringe another person's rights.
Browser and Device Compatibility
Gesture Synth has been tested in Google Chrome. It does not currently promise operation on a particular browser version, device, operating system, camera, microphone, extension setup, or other browser. Camera, microphone, canvas capture, MP4 MediaRecorder, Web Audio, hardware acceleration, and fullscreen behavior vary by browser and device, so uninterrupted operation is not guaranteed. Read browser and device compatibility before you play.
Intellectual Property
Gesture Synth includes original work and third-party open-source software. Third-party components remain subject to their respective licenses. Your downloaded performance recordings are not uploaded to or claimed by the service.
No Warranty
The instrument is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or compatibility with every device. Protect your hearing by using a comfortable volume.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use Gesture Synth.
Changes
These terms may be updated when the service changes. Continuing to use Gesture Synth after an update means you accept the revised terms.
